Easter Market 2027
The historic Burg Ludwigstein once again opens its gates for the 42nd Easter Market, inviting visitors to a wonderful weekend full of arts and crafts, culinary delights and discoveries. The market takes place on Saturday from 10am to 6pm and Sunday from 10am to 5pm, transforming the impressive castle grounds into a vibrant market bustle with plenty to offer for young and old alike.
Numerous exhibitors present their lovingly crafted goods, including soaps, paintings, sewing and woodwork as well as many other special pieces of jewellery and little treasures. A special highlight are the artfully hand-painted Easter eggs, which are among the most popular items at the market every year. The stalls also offer a wide range of gift ideas and handmade treasures to admire and browse.
There is also plenty to enjoy on the culinary side: from bratwurst, crêpes and jacket potatoes with delicious dips to cakes and coffee and refreshing cold drinks, there is something for every taste. For the little ones, there is a fun craft room where they can get creative to their heart’s content. There is also a tombola where young and old can try their luck and win one of the many great prizes.
A further highlight is this year’s Easter exhibition under the motto “Curiosities”. Here you can see extraordinarily crafted eggs created using a wide variety of techniques — including artistic works made with dental tools or even lead. This special collection promises fascinating insights into the diversity of artisanal creativity and is well worth a visit.
Admission costs €5.00 for adults. Young people between 12 and 17 years and people with a severe disability card pay €2.00, children up to 12 years have free admission. Unfortunately the castle is not accessible for wheelchair users. Parking is available at the foot of the castle hill; a free shuttle service transports guests conveniently to the castle and back. The market is organised by the Arbeitskreis Europäische Jugendwochen e.V., a non-profit, volunteer-run association. All proceeds from the Easter Market go directly towards funding the European Youth Week, an international youth folklore festival held every summer at the castle.
